Here’s a place to start for those interested in taking up the Rabbit Revolution banner. Here are some resources to fill in my gaps.

Storey’s Guide to Raising Rabbits: Breeds, Care, Facilities |
| I regard this book as the most comprehensive for raising meat rabbits. It’s not a textbook by any means, so it can be hard to locate information. All in all, however, it’s written by a guy who knows his stuff and is easy to read. Most of the information you need to know about raising rabbits is in here. Includes butchering techniques and recipes. | |

Barnyard in Your Backyard: A Beginner’s Guide to Raising Chickens, Ducks, Geese, Rabbits, Goats, Sheep, and Cows |
| This book contains information on raising all sorts of livestock, not just rabbits. Most of the information is covered by the Storey’s Guide, but there is some interesting stuff if you’re looking into getting different kinds of animals. | |

How to Raise Rabbits (How to Raise…) |
| This is a decent book as decent books go. It really focuses more on raising rabbits for show and pleasure than for dinner, but the information is good nonetheless. | |

Raising Earthworms for Profit: A Multi-Million Dollar Market |
| “There was a time, not too many years ago, when anyone who talked about raising earthworms was regarded as something of an ‘odd character’ …someone whose mental machinery may have begun to creak a little.” The whole book is written like this. It’s a hoot. Anyway, while this book does not contain information on raising rabbits, it does detail a most efficient (and, apparently, profitable) way of disposing of bunny poo. Because bunnies poo. A lot. |
Online
- The American Rabbit Breeders Association
The go-to folks for showing rabbits and getting connected with other rabbit raisers. - Rudolph’s Rabbit Ranch
(not to be confused with The Bunny Ranch) - Raising Rabbits in the Pacific Northwest
A good overall resource, akin to Storey’s Guide. - Yahoo! Meat Rabbits Group
Lots of good knowledge here, although it is tightly moderated. - BackYard Herds Forum
Equipment & Supplies
- Quality Cage Co.
They sell pretty much all the equipment you’re going to need for your rabbits at good prices. Cages (obv), feeders, water bottles, resting boards, nest boxes, etc. - Woody’s Wabbits
Based in Astoria, OR. Woody sells pretty much everything you need. - Bass Equipment Co.
Completely comprehensive array of rabbit equipment. Really. We use Quality Cage because they’re local so we don’t have to pay for shipping, but Bass’s prices are very low. - Craigslist
Depending on your area, great for finding used everything! We bought our breeding stock and hutches from people we found on Craigslist. Mos def cheaper than buying new, but make sure you’re getting quality. - Your local feedstore
They will have rabbit food, straw, hay, and some miscellaneous rabbit equipment. - Your local pet store
Probably not your best choice. Tend to be more expensive than the feed store and will not have the equipment you really need besides water bottles. Oh, and claw trimmers.

Here is another good link for your list: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/Meatrabbits/
We are down in Roseburg. New to rabbits for food, but my husband’s family did. We have a large organic garden, chickens for eggs, Muscovy ducks for meat, and now rabbits. We also raise Boer cross meat goats on some shared property with other family! We are very excited to find this site. We really care what we are giving our children to eat, and we are very concerned about being sustainable. Appreciate the support, and keep up the good work!
Hello,
I have been on your website and have enjoyed looking around. You have some good information that I know is helpful to the rabbit community. Thanks for all that you are doing. I wanted to contact you to see if you could review our website http://www.naturalrabbitfood.com about Sherwood Forest Natural rabbit food that we are now producing here in the west and getting alot of interest from around the country. The site has alot of past and current research on the topic of rabbit food, rabbit health, nutrition and many other topics.
I wanted to ask if you could list our name and link to our website for a resource available to your readers. I noticed that you have a ‘Links’ section on your site that has alot of good resources. Our site would also provide a great resource to those who are interested and concerned about rabbit nutrition and good rabbit health.
Please email or call back with any questions or discussion.
Thank you,
Bob Stephenson
